It all began with a little blurb by Gerri Miller in Metal Edge Magazine's news wire, a week before her departure from the publication she founded and we here at Versailles Records grew up on back in the 1980s. Advertising an independant record label seeking unsigned bands to pay tribute to 80's hard rock and heavy metal, our response from up and coming bands around the country was overwhelming, and so "The Second Coming: A Millennium Tribute" was born, along with the label Versailles Records in March, 1999. We made this album as an experiment in the process of completing a full-length album, and had no ambition beyond achieving the latter, and celebrating some great music from a great era in the process! With liner notes by Martin Popoff, as well as a colorfully animated cover, designed as a blatant rip off of Motley Crue back in their heyday, this record went through 3 distributors before finally landing some retail presence via Organ Grinder Records/Electric Kingdom Distribution, and though it is not counted as part of our official Soundscan catalog with our distributior, Big Daddy Music, it still gave us our foot in the door, and suprisingly recieves critical interest from time to time, and is even available on EBAY! Whether or not it did a good job of paying homage to the 1980s, we certainly gave it our best on our very first project out of the gate!
